Abstract
High voltage electrical devices are critical components in managing power distribution along highways, including those in Delhi, India. However, their operation in harsh outdoor conditions presents unique challenges such as insulation degradation, electrical surges, and maintenance difficulties. This article reviews common electrical problems encountered in high voltage equipment deployed on Delhi highways, including transformers, circuit breakers, and insulators. It discusses causes, impact on power reliability, and mitigation techniques. Additionally, recent advancements in monitoring technology and materials for enhanced durability are examined. The goal is to improve system reliability and safety in urban highway power infrastructure.
